Women & Fat Loss

When I speak to a lot of women one of the first questions that I usually get asked is, how can I lose weight or how can I tone my body and lose weight?
Anyone can lose weight (I am referring to body fat when I say "weight") if they follow a good training program and stick to a healthy balanced diet but for some people it is a lot easier to lose body fat then for others.

This is because we don't all have the same body types.
Some of us have faster metabolisms whilst others have slower metabolism meaning it takes longer to burn calories.
Having a slower metabolism doesn't mean it is the end of the world though because there are methods that can be used to help speed up your metabolism resulting in calories being burned a lot more faster.

First things first there is no such thing as a magic pill! If there was there wouldn't be any obese people in the world!
There are of cause legal sports nutritional weight management supplements that can help to speed up the fat burning process but no matter what you take you will always still have to put the work in at the gym and maintain a healthy balanced diet to reap the rewards.

What I can give you is the right training, guidance and information along with the right fitness program to get you where you would like to be.
I'm not going to make silly promises and tell you that you will have your dream body in 2 weeks because that would be unrealistic but what I would say to you is after 6 - 12 weeks of following my weight management & toning fitness program you will notice the change in your body as well as a big increase in your fitness levels.

Working out and exercising shouldn't be a short term fix the only way to get the body that you desire, keep your fitness levels up and keep off that un-wanted fat permanently is to incorporate health & fitness into your way of life as much as you can and have a little will power to stick to it.

Training with weights...the BIG Myth!

If I was given £1 every  time I heard a female gym user say "I don't want to do weight training because I don't want to get big muscles", I would be a very rich man right now!

The truth is that belief is wrong because weight training when applied correctly is a very effective form of training to burn calories and to give your body that firm toned look!

Firstly the hormone responsible for increasing muscle size is testosterone. Women have much less testosterone in their bodies then men and women also cannot produce as much natural testosterone as men, so this makes it extremely difficult and near impossible to gain huge muscles by merely using weights.

Don't be fooled into thinking that the women that you mainly see in hardcore bodybuilding magazines with huge muscles have got that way because they do weight training alone. These women are professional bodybuilders and although it is true that they do weight training it is also true that the majority of their physiques are not naturally built, so never forget this!

What we must remember is these women have chosen to look how they do because that is what makes them happy, just like women decide to look slim and toned.

The benefits of weight training are very positive because as you increase the lean muscle in your body your resting metabolism will also increase resulting in more calories being burned through out the day so this can only be a bonus.

Weight training has many other benefits like making you physically
stronger which in turn will make your day to day living much easier.
It also increases your bone mineral density which in turn is good protection against osteoporosis, you can also improve your posture.

Obviously there are many different forms of weight training or weight training approaches so choosing the correct type of weight training is important.

When it comes to weight training exercises the best and most effective ones to do to really burn those calories are compound movements or multi joint exercises. These exercises use more then one muscle group so they are a lot harder to do then single joint exercises that use one muscle group.

If you want to get the most out of your training the truth is you should not only do cardio but you should also incorporate weight training into your program.
